Dr. Gopakumar G.
Nair Dr.
Gopakumar Nair has over 38 years experience and
knowledge in pharmaceutical and chemical
industry at different levels and positions. He
has also been Past-President of Indian Drug
Manufacturers’ Association (IDMA). Over the
years, he had opportunity to familiarize himself
with GATT, WTO, TRIPs and other IP laws & it is
with this wealth of experience that he became an
IP/Patent practitioner under the name Gopakumar
Nair Associates.
He is a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from National
Chemical Laboratory, Pune University (1967). He
has also done Diploma in Management from
Jamnalal Bajaj Institute, Mumbai University
(1974) & Diploma in Patent Law & Practice from
Institute of Intellectual Property Studies
(2001)
The positions that he has held in the past
include – Dean, Institute of Intellectual
Property Studies (IIPS); Advisor, Bulk Drug
Manufacturers Association (BDMA); Technical
Board Member, Chembiotek Research International,
Kolkata; Chairman & Managing Director, Bombay
Drugs & Pharmas Ltd.
Currently he is Hon. Chairman, BDH Industries
Ltd.; Director, Ultramarine & Pigments Ltd.;
Technical Board Member, Chemgen Pharma
International, Kolkata and IPR Advisor to a
large number of Pharmaceutical & Chemical
companies.
He is also an Editorial Board member of a number
of publications including Express Pharma Pulse,
Pharmabiz Chronicle, Indian Drugs (Vice
Chairman), IDMA Bulletin (Vice Chairman), BDMA
Newsletter (Past Editor-in-chief)
He has traveled worldwide on Business and
Government delegations and for Trade promotion &
represented the Indian Industry globally at
forums like ILO, WHO. He was also a member of
the Sixth, Seventh, Eighth, and Ninth Five Year
Plan committees/ sub-committees.
